The aim of our Good Dog Scheme Puppy Award is for you to have a happy, well controlled puppy both in the home and in the outside world. You and your puppy should be able to carry out a series of exercises that will test both of you. It is designed to test your handling skills, while ensuring your pup is relaxed and happy, with the capacity to understand and follow instructions. All of the relevant skills and exercises will be covered in the classes and should be practised at home and when out and about, in order to pass the assessment at the end of the course.
Who is eligible?
You and your puppy will be eligible to take the assessment until the puppy is 7 months old.
What will happen when I am tested?
The Good Dog Award Puppy assessment will be held within your own class group, with the exercises being practised during your regular classes. It will involve some individual and some group exercises, all of which you will be familiar with from your previous lessons.
What is the course content?
The course will include:
Identification and Equipment
Responsibilities as a puppy owner
Does your puppy respond to its name?
Playtime and recall
Health Check
Manners Around Food
Relinquishing an Item
