UK SNIFFER DOGS BRONZE TRACKING

One of Nikki's many nosework qualifications is as a UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze, Silver and Gold Tracking instructor.

Tracking is a little different from the Scent Detection that you may be familiar with, and involves following a previously laid scent trail to a familiar odour. We'll start by training your dog to detect a red Kong by scent alone (colour is important - the chemical make-ups of different dyes are so varied that your dog can tell the difference, even if their limited colours eyesight can't).

Once your dog has learned to confidently identify the red Kong scent, we'll begin laying a track for them. We'll use a food stuffed Kong for our dogs to find at the end of the track. Using a trail of treats to begin with, your dog will learn to lead you to the Kong!

As you progress through your course, your dog will learn to track multiple Kong targets at longer distances without a trail of treats to follow - you'll be truly amazed as they discover a fun and rewarding way of putting that extraordinary nose to good use. They (and you...) will be contentedly exhausted!
