Gundogs can demonstrate strong hunting instincts and an independent spirit. What should they do with all that unfocused drive? A dog who is denied the opportunity to indulge in his or her instincts will find a way to do so – and that’s when things begin to go awry with a lack of focus on you during walks, selective hearing, and the temptation to chase after every sign of a rustle in the distance.
This course will teach you the skills to keep your non-working gundog out of mischief and to develop a truly rewarding relationship with them. The six 50 minute sessions will include Sendaways, Retrieves, Steady Around Distractions Practice, Directional Signals, Recalls, and Stops On Cue. The seventh session will see you and your dog putting your new skills to the test, with certificates and rosettes for those who pass, and participation certificates if you need a little more practice.
You will need:
Poo bags
Water for your dog
Appropriate clothing for the weather, that you are happy to work in
A sensible approach to parking!
These workshops are offered on an occasional basis. We will provide a link here when they are open for booking.
